Swiss fund market on the road to recovery.

Basel, 25 April 2023 The Swiss fund market returned to a growth course in the 1st quarter of 2023. Investors showed more appetite for risk and were rewarded with price gains. Net inflows also ensured an increase in fund volume.

A positive balance can be drawn for the Swiss fund market after the first quarter of 2023. At the end of March 2023, the volume of the Swiss fund market amounted to CHF 1,370,363 million. This represents an increase of CHF 48.1 billion or 3.6%. After the difficult year 2022, which was characterized by high performance losses, the first quarter of 2023 was thus marked by a recovery. Compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year, however, the volume of the Swiss fund market still lags by over CHF 110 billion or 10.8%.

Led by equity funds, the volume increase in the Swiss fund market is primarily due to market performance of 2.9%, which accounted for CHF 37.7 billion. Meanwhile, net inflows amounted to CHF 10.4 billion. By comparison, outflows amounted to CHF 9.5 billion in 2022, a year characterized by great uncertainty.
